If boredom is your thing buy yourself a helideck to train on. I fully empathize with hamsters and understand why they end up eating their plastic wheels.
Not that I've eaten the helideck you understand.
I'm still training at sea with a pack on my back and taking the stairs two at a time, and we have a lot of stairs on this ship.
I while back I bought a heart rate watch and I have to say it's been worth it's weight in gold. It clearly shows your progress including fitness and weight. My starting point was low fitness (28) and 101 kilos. Now I'm 38 which is the upper end of moderate and 87 kilos.
I feel pretty good about myself.
